We would like to use the Bring-Your-Own-Cloud feature with temporary environments created on our company's platform. However, currently the CloudSlice UI always opens with two browser windows (one for the instructions and one for the cloud UI), and the UX for students (particularly via LTI from our LMS) is very clunky.
I understand that you have to do separate windows when the cloud provider does not allow their UI to be embedded in an iframe. However, we have control over our own cloud platform, including the ability to allow our cloud UI to be iframed.
I would like a checkbox in the BYOC fields to use an iframe to embed the UI in the same window as the instructions, giving us the same UX as you have with embedded web containers now.
Who would most benefit from this idea? | Lab Learners or Exam-takers |
What is the problem you are trying to solve?
Make the student UX for BYOC labs comparable to the embedded web container labs when the cloud UI is iframeable |
Thanks for taking some time to send along this suggestion! Our Product Group has given this an initial review... we love it. We cannot yet commit to a specific timeframe, but we've assigned this as "Likely to Implement," so stay tuned to this thread for updates over the next few weeks or months.

Our teams are currently investigating a solution that will remove the requirement of two browser windows for both native and custom cloud platforms! We will update this ideas as more details arrive.
